I admit that I got a lot of outside help to get this done. For Sam's body I got reference from Andy and Kodi who live in my grandpa's backyard. They were such chubby puppies but they've gown up to be beautiful dogs, strong and sleek, look nothing like their mother (which is a good thing considering that she's a chihuahua mix ) The face is a little off I know, but I'm learning.

The wings were a real challenge for me. Luckily I bought a book on birds of prey while at a national park that has outstanding photographs, it helped me out a lot with the number of rows of feathers, length, etc. I tried to model them after those of a hawk but they are covered in patterns so you can't tell one feather from another, and eagles are the same way except it's all monochrome. I ended up taking reference from vulture wings because they turned out really well and just compromised them to look fuller at the ends.

I have the urge to color him but I shall resist. If you wish to color Sam, you better ask the rightful owner. Hope you all like him!
